Time is a valuable resource. How we use it will effect the quality of our life. Make sure time is used to your advantage in helping you achieve your definite purpose. Get control over that which you can control – don’t give your power to others.
Some key things to keep in mind regarding managing time effectively:
1. What are my beliefs regarding time
2. What do I value?
3. Prioritize based on values
4. Take control of your life by managing your time
Stephen Covey, in his book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has a time management grid which I have found to be helpful. In this grid, he uses urgent/not urgent and important/not important to help with prioritization.
Some tools to help with managing time are calendar tools, journals, and customer relationship management and project management applications. These tools can save a lot of time and bring better return on the time investment.
Be sure to avoid common time-wasters such as procrastination, lack of attention, allowing frequent interruptions, and lack of completion.
