I used to really hate Christmas. Well, not hate, but I really didn’t care for it in a way that others found perplexing and a little hard to swallow. It may or may not have had something to do with being a typical moody bah humbug 40 something guy that found the dual threat of commercialism and family time to be repugnant and irritating.
Well I was an idiot and I wish to apologize to everyone, including and especially the Festive Spirited people of Mission Kansas, Blue Springs, Missouri and Vestavia Hills, Alabama. I found someone to make me love the season… my fiancé.
She let me know this is Christmas for us. It does not happen only once a year, but it is a reminder that beyond all of your personal needs and immediate difficulties, we have a greater mission. You must feel it and allow it to emerge. You must recognize that alone you cannot fulfill it because it is not for you alone.
You will wander in the desert, you will experience the temptations of the world, and you will feel the conflict between this greater emerging part of yourself and your personal wishes, preferences and fears. Without saying it she want me to realize, I must allow this greater power and greater purpose to eclipse your life, to envelop your life and to reorganize and redirect your life. This is Christmas in your Infinite Blue Ocean.
